Oldest Bible Competition

During the display of the Bible Exhibition at the Campus during the week 1- 5 June, we had a competition for the oldest Bible in Weston.   The oldest ones produced were two dated 1589.   They belong to people in Wick St. Lawrence and Banwell.

These 1589 Bibles are known as "Breeches" Bibles as in Genesis chapter 3 verse 7, the word "breeches" was printed instead of the word "aprons", the word used in the Authorised Version.
